The ACT Government is passionate and committed to continuing to grow Canberra as a city and national capital with urban renewal and place making to support the future growth our vibrant city into the 21st century. On 1 July 2017 the ACT Government will formally establish a new agency to develop and implement its passion for creating a city centre which reflects and sustains the vision which Government and community have for our city.
The City Renewal Authority will have the once in a generation opportunity to shape Canberra by leading, managing and facilitating major re-development projects within declared urban renewal precincts. It will work to create places driven by innovation and excellence in design, which are supported through collaborative community engagement and strong governance around decision making. The first precinct will encompass Civic, the Northbourne Avenue Corridor and West Basin.
The creation of this organisation provides a landmark opportunity to the new CEO to continue to shape a city which has been recognised by the OECD as one of the best cities in the world to live. This role reports directly to the Authority’s governing board and will provide the opportunity for a highly motivated executive with exceptional leadership skills, financial acumen, and a sound understanding of urban renewal, city planning and/or place making to make a mark on the nation’s capital.
Candidates will be visionary, strategic thinkers with demonstrable capabilities in organisational leadership, good governance, financial management, and fostering a high performance culture across the organisation. To satisfy the demands of this role, candidates will need to have extensive experience at an executive level with proven ability to balance commercial, public policy and governance objectives within a highly strategic and diverse environment.
Remuneration: From 1 July 2017, the position attracts a remuneration package ranging from $376,222 - $393,405 depending on current superannuation arrangements of the successful applicant. This includes a cash component of $312,418.
Contract: The successful applicant will be engaged under a performance based contract for up to five years. Prospective applicants should be aware that long-term engagements are tabled in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
