Temporary Employment Register

Shared Services, Treasury Directorate

Shared Services maintains a temporary employment register for people interested in obtaining non-ongoing employment. This register is used to select staff for employment for up to six months in either a full time or part time capacity. The register expires in June and December of each year. To remain on the register you need to re-apply. 

 

Vacancies that arise may include:

  • project and administrative work
  • employment within the information communication and technology (ICT) environment
  • finance
  • human resources; including payroll, recruitment, reporting, injury prevention and injury management
  • procurement
  • records services.

Economic Development Directorate | Land Development Agency

 

Land Development Skills?  Civil Engineers? Planners?

 

Are you retired with private or public sector land development related experience?  Would you like to give back to the industry and local community by working part-time to mentor young professionals?

Or are you a young professional, with land development and/or contract management experience, who would like to work in the public sector on exciting projects building Canberra’s future?

 

The Economic Development Directorate and the Land Development Agency invite people with the appropriate knowledge and skills to register for temporary part time and full time employment opportunities.  Please send your CV detailing relevant experience and two referees to: ldahr@act.gov.au.

How to Apply

Expressions of Interest can be lodged at any time and will be processed as staffing needs permit. When processed, your expression of interest will be acknowledged by email and you may be requested to complete a formal application addressing the selection criteria.

The number of vacancies in the traineeship program depends on the operational needs of Shared Services. Places are limited and selection is based on the merit principle.

Generally trainees commence in January each year. There may be opportunities for additional full-time trainees to commence in July, depending on operational needs.

Generally Shared Services commences interns in their second or third year of undergraduate study in either first or second semester. The guidelines of the university you study at provide the academic requirements for your placement. You should familiarise yourself with these and discuss the matter with your course advisor before applying.

Gymnasium Attendants

Canberra Institute of Technology

Canberra Institute of Technology's Fit & Well, the fitness facility at our Bruce Campus, requires fitness professionals for the 2011 Temporary/Casual Employment Register as gymnasium attendants.

Eligibility/Other Requirements: Certificate IV in Fitness and at least twelve months professional experience would be an advantage.

Nursing Clinical Supervisors

Canberra Institute of Technology

CIT's Nursing Program is seeking registered nurses who have currency in acute care to work as clinical placement assessors for students undertaking the Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled) course. Please note that this is a non-teaching, supervisory position for student clinical placements.

Eligibility/Other Requirements: Applicants must be a Registered Nurse currently registered to practice with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Temporary Employment Register

Environmental and Sustainable Development

People who are interested in temporary employment as Administrative Service Officers, Senior Officers, Professional Officers or Technical Officers with the Environmental and Sustainable Development Directorate are invited to submit their resume for placement on a temporary employment register. Registers are used to select staff for temporary, short term engagements or for special projects on either a full or part time basis. Selection of applicants for employment will be made on the basis of merit. We would be keen to hear from you if you have skills in the following areas: Architecture, Design, Planning, Compliance, Building, Leasing, Administration, Surveying and Customer Services.

If you have previously applied to be on the temporary employment register, you will need to reapply. Any offer of employment will only be made as the need arises. ACT Public Service terms and conditions will apply to any employment. If you are interested in being placed on our Temporary Employment Register, you should forward an application that clearly indicates the area for which you are interested in being considered. Your application should outline relevant work experience and include the names and contact details of two referees to substantiate your claims.
