Canberra Health Services (CHS) is focussed on the delivery of high quality, effective, person centred care. It provides acute, sub-acute, primary and community‚Äźbased health services, to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT)—a catchment of approximately 400,000 people. It also services the surrounding Southern New South Wales region which includes the Bega Valley, Bombala, Cooma-Monaro, Eurobodalla, Goulburn, Mulwaree, Palerang, Queanbeyan, Snowy River, Upper Lachlan Shire and the Yass Valley.
CHS administers a range publicly funded health facilities, programs and services including but not limited to:
  • The Canberra Hospital: a modern 600-bed tertiary hospital providing trauma services and most major medical and surgical sub-specialty services.
  • University of Canberra Hospital Specialist Centre for Rehabilitation, Recovery and Research: a dedicated and purpose-built rehabilitation facility, with 140 inpatient beds, 75-day places and additional outpatient services.
  • Four Walk-in Centres: which provide free treatment for minor illness and injury.
  • Six community health centres: providing a range of general and specialist health services to people of all ages.
  • A range of community based health services including Early Childhood Services, Youth and Women’s Health, Dental Health, Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Services.
Overview of the Work Area and Position
SKIP is an interprofessional, family-centred service for children aged 4 to 12 years with overweight or obesity. SKIP operates half a day a week at Belconnen Community Health Centre. It is delivered under a partnership model in which shared decision making, client empowerment and respectful and sensitive care are central to achieving outcomes. SKIP offers a single point of contact for ACT clients through the provision of integrated medical, dietetic and exercise physiology assessment and advice.
Under the direction of the WYCCHP Nutrition manager, you will manage the day to day activities of the SKIP service inclusive of the development and management of service processes to support the delivery of best practice.
Eligibility/Other Requirements:
Mandatory:
  • Degree or diploma in a health profession.
  • Be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or for health professions not regulated by National Law be eligible for membership of the relevant professional association.
  • HP3: Applicants must have a minimum of three years (ideally five years) post qualification experience.
Prior to commencement successful candidates will be required to:
  • Undergo a pre-employment National Police check.
  • Comply with CHS credentialing requirements for allied health.
  • Comply with CHS Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy, (OMU).
  • Be registered under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011.
Note:
This is a temporary position available for 12 months, with possibility of extension. This position is part-time at (14.7) hours per week and the full-time salary noted above will be paid pro-rata.
