Details: The Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate (CMTEDD) leads the ACT Public Service (ACTPS). It provides strategic advice and support to the Chief Minister, Ministers and Cabinet on policy, financial and economic matters, service delivery, whole of government and public service issues. Within CMTEDD, Policy and Cabinet provides advice, support and direction across the ACT Public Service on complex policy matters, incorporating a central agency strategic and coordination role in strategic planning, infrastructure planning, social and economic policy, spatial planning, regional policy and engagement, government accountability and cross-government issues.

Policy and Cabinet supports the Chief Minister, Cabinet, other Ministers and the Head of Service as Secretary of Cabinet and Chair of the ACTPS Strategic Board, through the provision of policy and support, including Cabinet secretariat functions and advice.

Policy and Cabinet supports the Chief Minister when representing the ACT at intergovernmental forums, notably the National Cabinet, Council for the Australian Federation and the Council of Capital City Lord Mayors.

The Division manages and coordinates the ACT's relationships with other jurisdictions, most significantly with the Commonwealth, NSW, Australia’s other capital cities and NSW Councils surrounding the ACT. Policy and Cabinet Division contains the Territory Records Office and Heritage Records Library that leads ACT Government records management to support business continuity and government accountability, protect the rights and entitlements of citizens, and preserve the historical memory of the Canberra community. The Division also has responsibility for the Wellbeing Project, developed in collaboration with the community to develop the ACT Wellbeing Framework. The team works across government to embed wellbeing principles in decision-making, building evidence and accountability.

Remuneration: The position attracts a remuneration package of $444,628 or $460,418 depending on the current superannuation arrangements of the successful applicant. This includes a cash component of $394,757.

Contract: The successful applicant will be engaged under a performance-based long-term contract for a period of up to five years. Prospective applicants should be aware that long-term engagements are tabled in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
