Details: The Planning and Urban Policy division are seeking applications from highly motivated individuals to fill the position of Director, Planning and Development Reform.

This position will work in the Building, Design and Projects Branch to progress key planning and development reform projects to support the ACT Government’s commitment of enabling 30,000 new homes by 2030. The position will progress reviews, policy development and reform options on key planning and development policy matters including lease variation charge, provision of public infrastructure and facilities, and planning system reform to support development activity consistent with the Minister’s Statement of Planning Priorities.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:  

Highly desirable:

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant industry/professional experience in planning, urban policy, urban design, land economics, development feasibility, or a related area.

Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately until 30 June 2026, with the possibility of extension up to 12 months. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. This position is located in a workplace designated for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
