Work Health, Safety and Wellbeing in the ACT Government

WHSWB website header

The evidence is clear, good work creates good health and productivity. The ACT Government understands the importance of maintaining health, safety and wellbeing of the ACT Public Service workforce. The health, safety and wellbeing of our people is fundamental to the ACT Government’s pursuit of excellence in the services we deliver to the ACT Community.

Are you an ACT Emergency Services Volunteer needing support?

Volunteers within ACT Emergency Services Agency are encouraged to submit a work incident report form for any incident or near miss whilst undertaking their emergency duties. This will initiate contact from the JACS Directorate to assist with any ongoing support as needed.

You can also contact the CMTEDD Injury Management team on 0262054519 or injurymanagement@act.gov.au for support and assistance.

We want to create work and workplaces that are safe and enable our people to be healthy, engaged and skilled to participate fully and perform at their best.

The Public Sector Health, Safety and Wellbeing Strategy 2019 – 2022 has been designed to deliver improved engagement, participation and productivity of our people through an integrated work health, safety and wellbeing approach.

Our vision:

  • Our workplaces will be safe and enable our people to participate fully by being healthy, engaged and skilled to perform at their best.
  • Our people will be leaders and innovators in building health and safe workplaces where people can thrive, perform at their best and contribute fully to their workplaces and the broader ACT community.

Have you experienced occupational violence?

If you are an ACTPS worker who has experienced occupational violence (also known as workplace violence), it’s important that you report it. Reporting helps ACT Government provide you with extra support and identify areas we can make work safer. If you have questions about reporting or how occupational violence is managed in your directorate, speak to your directorate work health and safety representative.
