Details: As an H5 Bird Flu Biosecurity Field Officer, you will work as part of a dedicated field team responding to reports of sick or dead birds. Duties include field assessments, surveillance and sampling support, safe handling and transport of birds, humane euthanasia and disposal where required, and maintaining accurate operational records.

When not deployed to the H5 response, you will contribute to broader biosecurity programs across the ACT, including surveillance, monitoring, inspections and emergency preparedness activities.

We're looking for people with:

  • Experience in field based, biosecurity, environmental, animal management, emergency response or related roles.
  • A strong commitment to workplace safety, animal welfare and biosecurity requirements.
  • Good communication, teamwork and record keeping skills.
  • The ability to work in dynamic operational environments and follow established procedures.

Notes: There are several temporary positions available for three months with the possibility of extension up to six months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
