Details: Join the ACT Government’s central Data and AI policy team and contribute to shaping how data and emerging technologies are used safely and effectively across the public service. As a Data and AI Policy Officer, you will support the development of policy advice and delivery of priority projects aligned to the ACT’s digital and data strategies, working across government to strengthen data governance, AI adoption, and evidence-based decision-making.

In this role, you will undertake research and analysis, prepare high-quality briefing and policy materials, and engage with stakeholders to support policy development and implementation. Working with a moderate degree of autonomy, this is an opportunity to build your policy capability in a collaborative environment while contributing to meaningful public sector outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to support policy development and interpret complex information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear briefing materials and engage stakeholders.
• Demonstrated interest in data, AI or digital policy, and the ability to work collaboratively across government environments.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with a moderate level of autonomy in a fast-paced setting.

Eligibility/Other requirements: Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.
