Details: Majura Primary School is located in Canberra's north. Majura Primary has an enrolment of approximately 770 students across both the primary and preschool sites. Majura Primary School is committed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students, staff and visitors.
We are seeking a reliable, enthusiastic and proactive Building Service Officer (BSO) with a strong interest in facilities, ground maintenance and compliance, who enjoys hands-on work and supporting the school community.
The BSOs primary role is to maintain general cleaning and maintenance and address safety and security issues as they arise, and contribute to maintaining a safe, tidy, and welcoming school environment. The BSO is required to coordinate and complete required work to the building, fixtures, fittings, furniture and equipment or organise and oversee work and respond to urgent maintenance needs in line with Work Health and Safety standards. Develop, coordinate and implement an annual maintenance program ensuring regular communication and liaison with the Business Manager. The BSO assumes the responsibility for security of the school and cluster buildings including an offsite preschool. Assume responsibility for the day to day grounds maintenance work enhancing the school, cluster and associated preschool including regular inspections to determine priorities.
Undertake relevant administrative tasks as required and ensure compliance with risk management and safety documentation requirements. Oversee and update online platforms such as Chemwatch, RC-Webview. Within reasonable safety limits, manage and coordinate stocktake and the receipt and storage of equipment and supplies and rearranging or relocating furniture and equipment.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

- Asbestos awareness card or a willingness to obtain - Asbestos Awareness Training and evidence of completion delivered by a Registered Training Organisation is required before commencement, for further information refer to: Asbestos Awareness Training - WorkSafe ACT
- Crystalline Silica Exposure Prevention: Evidence of completion of training delivered by a Registered Training Organisation for Crystalline Silica Exposure Prevention is required prior to commencement. For further information refer to: WorkSafe website
- White Card: Workplace Health and Safety Induction (White Card) or willingness to obtain; General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Mandatory Training in other WHS procedures may be required during employment: for example, Working at Heights, Sharps.
- A pre-employment medical clearance is required prior to commencement. This assessment is at the cost of the Directorate and not the applicant. If/when a request for registration is in the final stages of completion, contact will be made with the applicant to organise the medical assessment.
- Mandatory training in other WHS requirements may be provided during your employment.
- A current drivers’ licence is essential.
Desirable: - An industry recognised trade qualification or equivalent work experience.
- A current First Aid certificate.
