Strathnairn School Classroom Teachers: permanent positions

Strathnairn School is seeking passionate and qualified early childhood, specialist Health/PE and primary classroom teachers to join our newly established and growing team.

The school opened in early 2026, with phase one welcoming Preschool to Year 2 students and an ELC run by The Y. In 2027 the school will grow to include all year levels from preschool to year 6, supporting families in the fast‑growing Ginninderry region. With modern, sustainable, and inclusive learning spaces designed for up to 780 students, Strathnairn School offers an exciting chance to help shape a new school community. Staff will play a key role in building the school’s vision, values, culture and educational practices from the beginning.

About the role:

As a primary teacher in an ACT public school, you will:

  • Inspire and teach students from kindergarten to year 6 using the Australian Curriculum (V9.0).
  • Foster positive relationships with students, colleagues and the wider school community.
  • Join a collaborative and supportive team focused on student wellbeing and achieving student learning outcomes.
  • Apply teaching strategies and curriculum knowledge to drive improved student outcomes.
  • Bring well-developed classroom management, communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and motivate students.
  • Support students’ diverse needs, creating an inclusive classroom where every student feels valued and supported.
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives and contribute to and foster a positive school culture.

What we’re looking for:

  • Primary expertise: Strong curriculum knowledge and a proven focus on effective literacy and numeracy pedagogies.
  • Early childhood expertise: strong early childhood pedagogical practice and ability to plan using the Early Years Learning framework and National Quality Standards.
  • Health & Physical Education expertise: strong curriculum knowledge and coaching skills, with the ability to establish and resource our school wide PE program inclusive of carnivals, sporting events, clinics etc.
  • Qualifications and experience: A recognised tertiary teaching qualification and experience working with either early childhood or primary-aged students.
  • Passion for teaching: A genuine desire to see students thrive and succeed in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Eligibility requirements:

  • A recognised 4-year full-time tertiary teaching qualification.
  • ACT Teacher Quality Institute Teacher Registration (or eligibility to apply).
  • Valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People registration (or eligibility to apply).
