Gungahlin College is one of Australia's most dynamic schools, offering an educational experience for Years 10, 11 and 12, designed to inspire individual achievement and confidence for life. We are seeking a suitably qualified and highly skilled school leader to lead the Inclusion Support and Diverse Programs faculty at Gungahlin college. This role leads the development and implementation of inclusive education strategies and manages diverse programs that support student engagement, access, and achievement across the college. The successful applicant will clearly demonstrate their ability to support students with additional needs through tailored plans, resourcing, and staff coordination, while contributing to whole-school wellbeing and inclusion initiatives.

Job Description:

Lead Inclusion Support Programs (ISP) and teachers and admin support staff in the faculty through proven experience, leadership and management of a variety of successful programs for Students with Diverse Needs, including:

  • Implement college priorities, programs, and initiatives within a multidisciplinary team to deliver integrated student support services across wellbeing, careers, and transitions.
  • Demonstrate leadership in inclusive education, with experience designing and implementing support plans and programs for students with diverse needs.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of curriculum differentiation and the development of modified unit outlines, ensuring the provision of a broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum in accordance with school and BSSS requirements.
  • Manage and coordinate Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), ISP resourcing, and student support documentation including Student Adjustment Matrices (SAMs), Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), Behaviour Management Plans, Medical Plans, Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs), and Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) requirements.
  • Manage and coordinate transitions into, through and out of the college for students accessing the inclusion and disability programs.
  • Lead and mentor case managers within the Inclusion Faculty, supporting them to implement student-centred approaches within a Case Management model, as well as build the capability of all staff across the school in trauma-informed practice and inclusive pedagogical approaches.
  • Lead and manage Response to Intervention (RTI) processes for inclusion students that incorporate a tiered approach to wellbeing and behaviour management.
  • Support the Principal to establish and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with students, staff, parents/carers and stakeholder groups in the wider community.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:

  • A minimum of four years full time (or equivalent) tertiary study leading to the award of a recognised school teaching qualification.

Mandatory:

  • Current professional teaching registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (or eligibility for teacher registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute).

Note: This is a temporary position available 3 August 2026 until 1 August 2027. Only permanent EDU SLC’s, CT's or eligible SOGC's, ASO6's (or equivalent) are eligible to apply for this position. Applicants may be assessed on application and referee alone
