Details: ACT Education Directorate is seeking aspiring and experienced business leaders to join a merit pool for upcoming temporary, acting and potential permanent School Business Manager (SOG C) opportunities across ACT public schools.

As a key member of the school leadership team, the Business Manager provides strategic and operational leadership across a broad range of business functions, including financial management, human resources, facilities, procurement, compliance, risk management and governance. Working in partnership with the Principal, the role supports school improvement priorities while ensuring the effective day-to-day operation of the school.

Successful applicants will demonstrate strong leadership, sound judgement and the ability to adapt to diverse school environments. They will be capable of building positive relationships, leading staff, managing competing priorities and providing high-quality advice to support informed decision-making.

This role requires excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to apply policies, procedures and legislative requirements in a dynamic school setting. School Business Managers play an integral role in creating safe, inclusive and well-run learning environments that enable students, staff and school communities to thrive.

Desirables

• Qualification or equivalent in Business Administration, Finance or
• Experience in a business-related role and financial qualifications and/or relevant experience.
• Knowledge of Xero and Sentral systems.
• Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
• First Aid qualification. A First Aid Certificate or a willingness to undertake appropriate training.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
