Details: The Education Directorate is reshaping how its central office works so it can better support schools, students, staff, government and the ACT community. The multidisciplinary organisation design team will deliver a challenging program of discovery, design and implementation to reshape how the directorate operates and is structured. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to a once-in-a-generation organisation reform program that will help build a more connected, sustainable and effective education directorate.

The industrial consultation and staff wellbeing lead will play a critical leadership role in ensuring this transformation is delivered through genuine consultation, supports staff wellbeing and is aligned with the directorate’s obligations to staff. The position leads the program’s approach to industrial relations, consultation and workforce wellbeing, ensuring change is implemented in a way that is transparent, fair and sustainable.

The role provides strategic and practical advice on workforce impacts, consultation obligations, wellbeing risks and stakeholder issues. It ensures these considerations are integrated into design, engagement, transition and implementation, supporting informed decision-making and effective program delivery.

As the reform agenda matures, work programs, reporting arrangements and team structures may evolve. We are looking for people who are comfortable working flexibly in a changing environment and who want to help build a more connected, sustainable and effective education directorate.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, veterans, younger and older workers, and people with diverse genders, sexes and sexualities to apply.

Notes: This is a temporary position available for a period of 12 months with the possibility of permanency.

These roles sit in a broader reform environment. While the immediate focus is organisation design, successful candidates may contribute to related reform, implementation or transition priorities as the work program evolves.

A merit pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.

How to Apply: Please submit a pitch of no more than two pages, your curriculum vitae and the details of two referees. Your pitch should explain why you are suitable for the role, drawing on the position overview, duties and capability requirements in the Position Description. Please include examples that demonstrate your relevant Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Behavioural Capabilities.

Applications should be submitted via the Apply Now button below.

Note: Under the ACTPS employment framework you may be placed in another role where required for the efficient administration of the service.

Where an offer of employment is for a fixed-term period, any related temporary contracts within the Territory will be issued in compliance with the requirements and applicable exceptions outlined in the Fair Work Act.

The ACT public service is committed to closing the gap, underpinned by the belief that when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a genuine say in the design and delivery of policies, programs and services that affect them, better life outcomes are achieved.
