Details: The Schools Resourcing and Finance Section provides strategic budgeting, funding and financial management support to schools, ensuring they operate within the approved financial management framework and apply resources effectively, efficiently and economically. The section drives continuous improvement of financial management processes, systems and practices to strengthen financial capability and confidence across schools.

The Assistant Director is a member of the Schools Resourcing and Finance team within Strategic Finance and Procurement and reports directly to the Director.

The position is responsible for providing expert financial, operational and business advice to schools, supporting sound decision-making and ensuring compliance with legislative and Directorate requirements. The role promotes accountability, consistency and best practice in financial management across schools.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:

  • Accounting degree and membership of a relevant professional body is highly desirable.
  • Advanced Excel skills with ability to integrate financial data is highly desirable.
  • Proficient as an administrator and developer experience in a range of financial management information systems such as Xero and TM1 is highly desirable.
  • Experience in financial management and compliance, particularly in relation to compliance with relevant legislation, policies procedures and guidelines is also highly desirable.

Note: This is a temporary position available immediately until 30 June 2027 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. Selection may be based on application and referee report only. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
