About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual, with an interest in Social Work to join the Acute Allied Health Services team.
We are inviting applications from suitably qualified Allied Health Assistants, who possess a relevant Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent such as other Certificate IV or partial completion of relevant tertiary qualification such as Social Work. The successful applicant will have a general understanding of social work practice and interventions.
Our Social Work Department provides Social Work services across the Canberra Hospital, including critical care units, medical and surgical wards, and maternity and paediatrics.
We support clinicians of all levels embarking on a career move into the hospital system by providing skill development support from our Workforce Clinical Educator, supervision and access to funded professional development opportunities.

Please note prior to commencement successful candidates will be required to:
- Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Working with vulnerable people (WWVP) registration (act.gov.au)
- Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
- Comply with CHS credentialing and scope of clinical practice requirements for allied health professionals.
Note: This is a temporary position available for a period of nine months with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. This position is part-time at (22) hours per week and the full-time salary noted above will be pro-rata.
