Details: Economic Development, within Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate (CMTEDD) is seeking a highly motivated senior officer to perform the duties of Directorate Liaison Officer (DLO).

Economic Development is a dynamic division with a variety of portfolios reporting to three ministers. Its business units include Sport and Recreation, artsACT, Events ACT, VisitCanberra, Skills Canberra, and Business and Innovation, Strategic Infrastructure Coordination, Venues Canberra and the National Arboretum Canberra and Stromlo Forest Park. As the Economic Development DLO, you will play a key role as the liaison between Ministers' offices and the Division. You will attend meetings with Ministers and ensure the efficient flow of materials between Ministers' offices and the Division. This role provides DLO functions for the independent statutory bodies Canberra Institute of Technology, City Renewal Authority and Cultural Facilities Corporation.

As a DLO you will need to bring to the role: leadership in exercising sound judgement; an ability to maintain effective relationships through a responsive approach; excellent communication and negotiation skills; a sound understanding of government process; and a high level of organisation. Eligibility/Other Requirements: Experience with digital records management systems is highly desirable.

Experience and understanding of ACT Government Cabinet, Assembly, and machinery of government processes would be desirable.

This position may require the successful applicant to either hold or be able to obtain a baseline security clearance.

Note: This is a temporary position available from 23 June 2025 until 22 June 2026. This position is located within the Legislative Assembly building, in the Chief Minister's Office and requires the successful candidate to work full time in the Office.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.

Directorate Liaison Officer roles include a DLO Allowance, which is 7% of the fortnightly rate of pay for the employee’s classification calculated on ordinary hours worked in that fortnight, paid fortnightly in arrears. It is not paid during leave and does not count as salary, except for super.
