Details: ACT Public Sector (ACTPS) Employment and Industrial Relations is seeking bright and eager people-persons to fill critical roles within our team of expert industrial and workplace relations gurus. If you’re fascinated by and adept at navigating the intersections of people and workplace matters, employment policy and legislative frameworks then you might be the person we’re looking for. Read on below and see the attached Position Description for more about what we do and how you might fit into our team…

Over this year, and beyond, we have ambitious and important work to do bargaining the next ACTPS enterprise agreements (EAs) and ensuring smooth implementation across the ACTPS... Our work has the potential to shape and modernise the ACTPS industrial landscape and while it can be reactive and highly responsive at times, it’s also fulfilling and meaningful work. We engage with a range of people – from Strategic HR teams, executives and Ministers, and union representatives – to collaborate and problem-solve with them, offering advice and the ‘guardrails’ for stakeholders to operate within, as aligned with our ACTPS employment frameworks.

In potential Assistant Directors, we’re seeking senior team members with a good mix of technical skills and business and people sensibilities to play a key role in enterprise bargaining and contribute to the implementation of a range of public sector employment projects. You’ll bring effective stakeholder engagement qualities to represent us, the broader Office of Industrial Relations and Workforce Strategy division we sit within, and ACT Government more broadly as you and the team manage various workplace relations and complex industrial matters. Strong judgement, a passion for delivering quality outputs and outcomes within tight timeframes, and the capacity to maintain confidentiality and discretion will be vital skills to your successful contributions to our team. If this sounds like a role you can see yourself bringing value to and enjoying, we’d welcome an application from you.

A full list of duties and responsibilities can be found in the attached Position Description.

Eligibility/Other Requirements: Relevant tertiary qualifications in workplace relations, human resources, public policy or law, or relevant experience in public sector roles will be highly regarded.

Note: These are temporary positions available for a period of 12 months with the possibility of permanency.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, veterans, younger and older workers, and people with diverse genders, sexes and sexualities to apply.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill vacancies over the next 12-months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. Please note, this position is primarily located at a workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.

How to Apply: Please provide:

  • Your supporting statement of no more than two A4 pages, addressing the Professional/Technical Skills and the Behavioural Capabilities and outlining your skills and experience relevant to the role;
  • A copy of your current curriculum vitae; and
  • Contact details of at least two referees.

Applications should be submitted via the Apply Now Button below.
