Details: The Planning and Urban Policy division are seeking applications from highly motivated, experienced and suitably qualified individuals, who will think strategically, collaborate with others in providing creative and robust advice and who are proactive in leading tasks and people, to fill the role of Assistant Director, Design Policy and Government Architect.
The Design Policy and Government Architect unit is a dynamic multi-disciplinary team responsible for development of urban design policy and design guides, delivery of urban design advice for the division’s planning projects and providing design and technology capability, including the provision and coordination of graphics, CAD (2D and 3D), mapping and GIS. The team delivers secretariat services for the National Capital Design Review Panel (NCDRP) providing a single city-wide design review process of development proposals across Canberra.
The team also provides management and support services to the ACT Government Architect and the Alastair Swayn Masters Research Grant program—a joint initiative between the ACT Government, the University of Canberra, and the Alastair Swayn Foundation. Additionally, the team coordinates urban planning and design advice for entity referrals submitted to the division for comment.

Eligibility/Other Requirements: Highly Desirable:
- Tertiary qualifications in urban design, urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture or a related field; and/or
- Significant work experience in urban design, urban planning and planning policy reform or a related field.
Note: This is a full-time permanent position available immediately. A merit pool will be established and may be used to fill identical positions that become available during the 12-month period. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
