Details: ACT Natural Resource Management (NRM) is seeking to permanently appoint to the role of First Nations Natural Resource Manager. This is a meaningful leadership role for someone who wants to support strong connections to Country, care for culture, and help shape the future of natural resource management across the ACT.
You'll lead a dedicated team in its delivery, supporting the reporting and administration activities required to deliver Natural Resource Management programs including the First Nations Conservation Training Program and Kickstart Your Career.
We are seeking someone with strong leadership and communications skills who can guide teams, complete reporting and briefings and assist with program delivery as well as engaging with First Nations people, and particularly Ngunnawal traditional custodians, with the aim of assisting to meet their aspirations in relation to natural resource management and cultural heritage.
This is a unique opportunity to step into a senior leadership role that will work with the ACT Natural Resource Management Director to develop new projects and refine existing activities to continue meeting First Nations community and ACT Government priorities in relation to natural resource management and cultural heritage.
Eligibility/Other requirements:
- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Working with vulnerable people (WWVP) registration (act.gov.au)
- The role requires a driver’s licence
- Experience working with at-risk youth is desirable
Notes: This is an Identified position in accordance with Section 27(4) of the Public Sector Management Act 1994 and is only open to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander lived experience and cultural capability is considered essential and therefore confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage may be requested.
A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
This position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start, and finish times.
