Details: Are you looking for a communications role in a great team, where no two days are the same and your work makes a visible difference to the Canberra community?

The City and Environment Directorate (CED) is seeking a talented and motivated Communications and Engagement Officer to join our team.

CED brings together the people, services and systems that shape Canberra’s natural and built environments. Our work spans planning, transport, environment, city services, regulation and customer services, with a focus on delivering connected, accessible, and trusted services for the Canberra community.

In this role you will help ensure Canberrans are well informed about government programs, policies and services and have meaningful opportunities to participate in decision-making.

You will work across a diverse range of projects to develop and deliver clear, timely and audience-focused communications and engagement activities. This includes preparing high-quality content for a range of channels, contributing to integrated communication strategies and campaigns, working with stakeholders and providing responsive communications support on emerging issues.

We are looking for someone who:

  • brings an audience-first approach to communications and engagement
  • can turn complex information into clear, accessible and engaging content
  • builds positive relationships and provides high-quality client service
  • can manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • is collaborative, adaptable and comfortable working across a broad range of subject areas
  • understands contemporary communications practices, including digital channels and emerging trends.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and have opportunities to develop your skills across communications, campaigns, and community engagement.

Eligibility/Other requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary education qualifications and/or previous experience working professionally in communication, marketing, media/public relations or a related field is preferred.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
