Details: Transport Canberra is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operational Fleet Technical Officer to join our Fleet Services team. This role is suited to a technically skilled professional with exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic operational environment. Relevant industry experience and qualifications are essential.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Fleet, Business, Planning and Strategy, the Operational Fleet Technical Officer is responsible for providing specialist technical support, advice, and training to Transport Canberra maintenance personnel. The position plays a key role in monitoring and reporting on matters relating to the bus industry and fleet maintenance, while ensuring Transport Canberra's maintenance practices align with operational and regulatory requirements.
The role is responsible for conducting technical reviews and audits of fleet maintenance systems, leading technical projects, and managing programs that support the introduction and integration of new vehicles into the fleet. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the Operational Fleet Technical Officer contributes to strategic and operational business objectives by ensuring the delivery of timely, efficient, and effective fleet support services.

- Extensive technical knowledge and the ability to interpret and apply complex fleet maintenance standards, specifications, and technical information.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build productive working relationships and provide clear technical advice to a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Highly developed organisational and time management skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience conducting technical investigations, reviews, and audits to support continuous improvement and compliance objectives.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes that support operational excellence.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:
- Drivers Licence (C-class) is mandatory, with an ability to obtain a HR licence.
- Relevant recognised trade qualifications and or certificates are mandatory.
- Experience in the industry or an understanding of the heavy vehicle maintenance.
- A pre-employment criminal history check will be conducted.
- This position requires a pre-employment medical.
- Visa holders are eligible to apply for both permanent and temporary roles. Those with eligible visas may be considered for permanent employment, while individuals with temporary residency or limited-duration visas may be offered permanent employment for the duration of their visas.
