Details: ACT NoWaste is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Policy Officer to support the delivery of the ACT Government's waste program, including the implementation of the ACT Circular Economy Strategy and Action Plan 2023-2030.

The Senior Policy Officer will support the Assistant Director to deliver key waste policy projects. The primary responsibilities for this position include research and planning, qualitative and quantitative analysis, including data analysis, to provide recommendations into policy development. The role may also involve drafting correspondence, responding to inquiries and investigations, managing papers from working groups, preparation of briefing papers and other administrative tasks.

Key skills required to be successful in this role include critical thinking to develop solutions to complex issues, stakeholder engagement, communication (written and Oral), attention to detail and ability to draft and prepare various government documents and correspondence.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:

  • Tertiary or other qualifications relevant to the position are highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in developing policy are highly desirable.
  • A Class C driver’s licence is useful but not essential.

Note: This is a temporary position available 6 October 2025 until 8 June 2026 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months. A merit pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.Please note, this position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
