Details: The Climate Change, Energy and Waste branch is currently seeking a skilled Senior Policy Officer to support the delivery of the ACT Government's waste program, including the implementation of the ACT Circular Economy Strategy and Action Plan 2023-2030. The Senior Policy Officer will support the team to deliver key waste policy projects. The primary responsibilities for this position include waste research and analysis, to provide recommendations into policy development. The role may also involve drafting correspondence, responding to inquiries and investigations, managing papers from working groups, preparation of briefing papers and other administrative tasks.

Key skills required to be successful in this role include critical thinking to develop solutions to complex issues, stakeholder engagement, communication, attention to detail and ability to draft and prepare various government documents and correspondence.

Notes: This is a temporary position available from 1 October 2026 to 13 December 2026. This position is available to ACT Government officers and employees only.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
