Details: The City and Environment Directorate (CED) brings together the people, services and systems that shape Canberra’s future. We are a new directorate with a bold purpose: to deliver smarter, more connected services that respond to the needs of our Territory and community.
The Floriade Head Gardener leads the horticultural delivery of Canberra’s iconic Floriade event in collaboration with Events ACT. This role also supervises and mentors’ horticultural apprentices and a team of horticultural staff, ensuring the annual works program is implemented to maintain and enhance Canberra’s town and district parks and floral displays.
This position requires a leader with a strong, considered and engaging people and community focus to successfully deliver and drive a culture of respect and a desire to achieve customer service excellence.

Eligibility/Other requirements:
- Relevant qualifications in horticulture or related fields (e.g. Landscape Architecture, Agriculture).
- Competency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Manual Driver’s Licence (LR preferred).
- Workplace Health and Safety Induction (White Card) or willingness to obtain General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Visa holders are eligible to apply for both permanent and temporary roles. Those with eligible visas may be considered for permanent employment, while individuals with temporary residency or limited-duration visas may be offered permanent employment for the duration of their visas.
- This position requires a pre-employment medical.

Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of three months with the possibility of extension up to six months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
