Capital Linen Service (CLS) operates as a commercial business unit within the ACT Government’s Transport Canberra and City Services Directorate. With over four decades of experience, we deliver high-quality linen services to more than 120 clients across Canberra and its surrounds. Join Capital Linen Service (CLS) and take the lead in delivering essential linen services to hospitals, aged care facilities, and commercial clients across the ACT.

As the Drivers Leading Hand, you’ll coordinate a team of professional drivers, manage delivery schedules, and ensure vehicle readiness. You’ll play a key role in maintaining service reliability, safety standards, and a positive workplace culture.


What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and coordinate a team of drivers to meet daily delivery requirements
  • Conduct toolbox meetings and allocate vehicles and routes
  • Ensure vehicle safety checks, cleaning, and maintenance are completed
  • Support training and development of new and existing staff
  • Drive a Medium Rigid truck and deliver linen safely and professionally
  • Liaise with supervisors and customers to ensure timely and accurate service
  • Promote a positive customer experience through friendly and reliable service
  • Assist with manual handling, stock rotation, and laundry tasks as required
  • Participate in weekend, public holiday, and out-of-hours shifts

What You’ll Bring:

  • Experience leading a delivery team in a logistics or industrial setting
  • Strong customer service skills and a safety-first mindset
  • Ability to manage manual handling tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Medium Rigid (MR) Driver’s Licence and unrestricted C Class Licence
  • Minimum 12 months’ experience as a delivery driver

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

  • Unrestricted Driver’s License (C class) and Medium Ridged (MR) Drivers Licence is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 12 months experience as a delivery driver in an industrial business.
  • Applicants must provide a recent drivers history report.
  • Physical ability to safely undertake manual handling requirements of the role is mandatory.
  • Must be able to work rostered weekends, public holidays, out of hours and overtime shifts.
  • This position requires a pre-employment medical and police check.
  • Visa holders are eligible to apply for both permanent and temporary roles. Those with eligible visas may be considered for permanent employment, while individuals with temporary residency or limited-duration visas may be offered permanent employment for the duration of their visas.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
