Details: The Adaptive Management Team in the Office of Nature Conservation has an exciting opportunity to backfill an Ecologist role. This position offers the chance to apply ecological science, research and analytical skills to improve conservation outcomes across the ACT. This role focuses on evaluating management effectiveness, developing environmental indicators, and providing scientific advice to inform adaptive management and biodiversity conservation initiatives.

Eligibility/Other requirements:

• Tertiary qualifications in ecology, environmental science, natural resource management, or similar fields.
• Current manual driver’s licence.
• A willingness to work independently in the field, outside normal hours in remote locations and in adverse weather conditions.
• Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra

Notes: This is a temporary position available from 15 October 2026 until 14 April 2027. This position is available to ACT Government officers and employees only.

Selection may be based on application only.

This position is under activity-based working (ABW), and so officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
