Details: Are you an analytical thinker who enjoys translating complex data into practical policy insights? If so, the Assistant Director position in ACT Treasury’s Economic Modelling and Quantitative Analysis team could be the right opportunity for you.

Working within a small, highly skilled team, you will undertake economic and financial modelling, analyse large administrative and statistical datasets, and contribute to priority economic policy projects—with a particular focus on the ACT’s vehicle registration system and population projections. You will also prepare evidence-based briefings and presentations; quality assure key deliverables and manage projects with a high degree of independence.

We are looking for someone with:

• strong analytical, research and quantitative skills
• experience working with large datasets and producing analytical reports
• experience with quantitative programming and advanced Microsoft Excel capability
• the ability to translate complex analysis into clear, practical advice
• strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
• a collaborative approach and commitment to the ACT Public Service values.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

• Tertiary or postgraduate qualifications in economics, statistics or a similar field are desirable.
• Experience using statistical software and programming to undertake modelling and analysis is also desirable.

Note: This is a temporary position available immediately until 2 April 2027 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
