Details: Community Services Directorate (CSD) Housing Assistance Division is seeking an organised and motivated individual to temporarily fill the position of Assistant Director in the Infrastructure Delivery team within the Infrastructure and Contracts Branch. Working with CSD offers you the opportunity to directly contribute to supporting the Canberra Community. Everyday our diverse workforce collaborates and drives client centred services to assist the community in creating a safe and equitable environment across the ACT.
The Growing and Renewing Public Housing program in Housing Assistance have several temporary vacancies for an Assistant Director to join the team. The Assistant Director manages the delivery of multiple complex and high-profile construction projects marked for redevelopment as part of the Growing and Renewing Public Housing program, including other public housing programs, and may have the responsibility for managing and mentoring staff. The Assistant Director supports the Director and Senior Director, Infrastructure Delivery and works closely with the immediate team and other external stakeholders such as builders to provide safe and affordable housing to the Canberra community.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

Highly Desirable:

  • Building and/or Infrastructure knowledge and/or project management experience.
  • Experience in managing Design & Construct and/or the General Contract 21 (GC21) forms of contract.
    To be classified at the IO3 classification in addition to the above highly desirable requirements you must have at least one of the following:
  • Relevant professional qualification in Engineering, Architecture or Project Management or accreditation with a professional body recognised within Australia; or
  • Relevant building degree; or
    Building and/or Infrastructure knowledge and/or project management experience.

Notes: There are two immediate vacancies available, one for an initial period of nine months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency and another for an initial period of two months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. Contracts will be offered to the successful applicants at either the Infrastructure Officer 3 or Senior Officer Grade C classification dependant on qualifications. A merit pool will be established from the selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.

Important Information for Applicants
