As a Senior Policy Officer, you’ll contribute to the ACT’s position on national initiatives like the rollout of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across Australian governments. You’ll coordinate cross-government projects, prepare strategic advice, and represent the ACT in national forums.

In this role you will:
- Develop policy advice and briefings for Cabinet, Ministers, and senior executives.
- Coordinate ACT Government projects linked to national reform agendas.
- Represent the ACT in national working groups and intergovernmental forums.
- Build relationships across government and with external stakeholders to support collaborative policy development.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Strong research, policy development and analytical skills.
- Experience managing or supporting multi-stakeholder projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- An interest in data, digital policy, or emerging technologies like AI.
- The ability to work independently and contribute to team outcomes.
We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, veterans, younger and older workers, and people with diverse genders, sexes and sexualities to apply.
Eligibility/Other Requirements:
- A degree in a field relevant to the span of functions the role supports, including law, economics, statistics, social research, or a combination of qualifications and relevant professional experience, is highly desirable.
- This role requires a national security clearance at NV1 level, issued by AGSVA, or the ability to obtain one. Therefore, applicants must be Australian citizens.
Notes: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start, and finish times.
How to Apply: Please submit your curriculum vitae, including the contact details of two referees, and an application of up to two-pages addressing the Selection Criteria section outlined in the Position Description.
