Details: Mawson Primary School, located in Woden is a P to 6 school with an enrolment of 615 students. The school is seeking a dynamic high performing School Leader C to join our united leadership team. Mawson Primary School is the only ACT school that has a Mandarin Immersion Program.
Our overarching goal at Mawson is to develop students who are assessment capable visible learners. Mawson Primary School is at the commencement of its new student-centred School Improvement Plan with two main priorities:
- To develop the personal and social capabilities of students to positively impact engagement and connectedness.
- To increase student growth in mathematics.
Job Description:
- Promote and reinforce the school's mission, vision and improvement strategies to deliver excellent student learning outcomes in all areas. The successful applicant will work as part of the school leadership team to cultivate and promote respectful and productive relationships with students, staff and parents in a dynamic school community.
- Lead the Year 5/6 team in delivering a high-quality, structured learning program using high impact teaching strategies.
- Demonstrate instructional leadership by supporting staff in catering to diverse student needs, focusing on inclusion and differentiation.
- Work collaboratively with the executive team and Principal to implement school improvement initiatives and continually develop the Year 5 and 6 programs to ensure quality and success.
- Collaborate with our external partner from the University of Melbourne to lead whole school professional learning focused on the student engagement continuum.
- Work collaboratively with the Mandarin Executive Teacher to ensure smooth delivery of the Australian Curriculum in Mandarin.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:
- An in-depth knowledge of the Visible Learning research.
- Ability to deliver high quality professional learning around the student engagement continuum.

Prior to commencing in this role a minimum of four years full time (or equivalent) tertiary study leading to the award of a recognised school teaching qualification; a current full teaching registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) (or eligibility for teacher registration with the ACT TQI) and a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.
