Hawker College is seeking a highly motivated, passionate, adaptable and innovative Teacher Librarian that will lead the development of the college library as a vibrant, engaging and welcoming learning hub.  

Job Description

The successful applicant for the Teacher Librarian position at Hawker College will require the following to perform the role:

⦁ High-level research skills with the ability to develop programs that teach information literacy and critical thinking skills to students and staff.
⦁ Proficiency in all aspects of library management including cataloguing, resource management, budget management, statistics/reporting and collection development.
⦁ Experience in proactively developing online learning systems and digital research pathfinders
⦁ Wide knowledge of and passion for young adult literature and the ability to promote and foster an enduring reading culture
⦁ Ability to work collaboratively with teachers/staff in planning, teaching and learning
⦁ Highly developed customer service, organisational, time management and interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver a high standard of library services
⦁ Demonstrated ability to engage in student and community outreach, library promotion, communications and marketing

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:

MANDATORY
A minimum of 4 years full time (or equivalent) tertiary study leading to the award of a recognised school teaching qualification.

An appropriate teacher librarian qualification (see below) or be studying towards a recognised teacher librarian qualification.

Teacher Librarian Qualifications

• Graduate Diploma of Education (Teacher Librarianship)
• Master of Applied Science (Teacher Librarianship)
• Master of Education (Teacher Librarianship)
• Master of Information Services (Teacher Librarian)
• Current teaching registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute.
• Current Working with Vulnerable People registration.
