Details: Maribyrnong Primary School is seeking a motivated and highly organised Finance and Purchasing Officer to join our small, collaborative front office team. This position plays a critical role in supporting the financial and operational functions of the school, ensuring that purchasing, procurement and financial processes are managed efficiently, accurately and in accordance with school and Directorate requirements. Working directly with the Business Manager, the successful applicant will contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the school while providing responsive support to staff, students, families and external suppliers.
The successful applicant will undertake a broad range of finance, purchasing and administrative responsibilities that support the school's educational and operational priorities. This includes managing purchasing processes, invoice management, financial reconciliations, budget monitoring, procurement activities and maintaining accurate financial records. The role will also provide administrative and front office support, requiring the ability to deliver high-quality customer service while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced school environment.
As a key member of the administration team, the Finance and Purchasing Officer will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure efficient financial operations, support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute positively to the culture and success of Maribyrnong Primary School.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

Desirables
- Prior experience in a finance, purchasing, administration or school-based business support role.
- First Aid Certificate or a willingness to undertake appropriate training.
- Certificate IV or equivalent qualification in Business Administration, Government (School Support Services), Government or a related field.
- Business qualifications or demonstrated experience in a business-related role.
- Financial qualifications or relevant experience in finance administration, purchasing or procurement.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Google Workspace and SharePoint.
- Knowledge of school-specific software including Sentral, Xero or similar financial management systems.
Note: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
