Details:  Clinical Practice is responsible for the management of the School Psychology Service (the Service) in all ACT public schools and contributes to the strategic direction of the Engagement and Wellbeing Support Services branch.

School psychologists work across behavioural, social, emotional and learning domains to support a student’s wellbeing and learning. They are based in schools and are supported by an Assessment and Early Intervention team.

School psychologists provide a psychological service to enhance student learning, engagement and wellbeing.

Your major activities include but are not limited to:

  • conducting psychological and educational assessments, writing comprehensive reports and providing recommendations;
  • provision of psychological intervention for children and young people;
  • conducting mental health risk assessments;
  • assisting in managing critical incidents;
  • consulting and collaborating with key stakeholders, including teachers, parents, carers, school administrators and external agencies to support and enhance student learning and wellbeing;
  • consultation, development, and evaluation of behaviour, social emotional and individual learning plans;
  • when appropriate, support student learning and wellbeing by making referrals to directorate programs and external agencies;
  • assisting in the selection, design, implementation and evaluation of prevention programs;
  • providing information and psychological education to students, school staff, parents, carers and external stakeholders; and
  • supporting the development of policy and processes.

Note: These are temporary positions available immediately for a period of 12 months with the possibility of extension up to two years and/or permanency. Flexible start dates available. There are both part-time and/or full-time positions available. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
