Details: The Education Directorate delivers high quality education services to government schools and registers non-government schools. It is the ACT Education Directorate’s intent that cultural integrity is at the heart of everything we do.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Section (the Section) is a team of school-based and Education Support Office staff and sits within the Education Programs and Services Branch. The Section is responsible for leading the work on embedding Cultural Integrity in ACT public schools and the Education Support Office (ESO).

The successful applicants will work closely with both the Assistant Director School Support and the Director Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education to lead and manage the team of Indigenous Education Officers, while also supporting their own base schools to build their schools' cultural integrity.

Required:

  • Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Working with vulnerable people (WWVP) registration (act.gov.au)
  • A current driver's licence and registered motor vehicle (Motor Vehicle Allowance is available).

Desirable:

  • Qualifications and/or relevant experience in school support, community services or youth work.
