Communication Support Assistants (Auslan) are vital members of our school community, contributing to student success through their support and collaboration with school leaders and teachers, and play a critical role in ensuring our Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students have equitable access to the curriculum. About you:
- Have a passion for working with and assisting young people.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, plus time management skills.
- Demonstrate knowledge of learning processes of children requiring support and enrichment.
- Proven experience establishing and fostering relationships with students, staff and parents/carers.
- Committed to supporting the wellbeing and development of students.
Eligibility requirements:
- Hold a Certificate IV Auslan and above OR be able to demonstrate equivalent Auslan proficiency (such as by being a native Auslan user).
- Qualifications such as Diploma of Auslan, Diploma of Interpreting and Certificate III or above in Education Support, School Support Services or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra (act.gov.au)
- Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid working visa.
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period up to 12 months.
