Details: Engagement and Wellbeing Support Services Branch values the role allied health professionals play in improving the educational outcomes for children and young people.  We are currently seeking Physiotherapists at Health Professional 2/3 level to grow and expand our service offer.  In joining the Engagement and Wellbeing Support Services Branch team, you will have opportunity to undertake a wide range of roles including providing direct support to schools, supporting our Flexible Education programs, Allied Health Teams, Targeted Support Teams and more.

Allied Health Team: The Allied Health team provides advice and supports to schools to improve the educational outcomes for all children and young people.

You will be a core member of wider Allied Health team, and will work closely with other professions including Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Psychologists and Allied Health Assistants. At times, you may be tasked with leading this multidisciplinary team to achieve your aims.

On commencement, pay increment and classification will be based on qualifications, years of relevant experience as an allied health professional and demonstrated ability to manage clinical and work tasks autonomously (e.g. caseload management, complex case management, relationship management). All allied health professionals will be required to support and supervise allied health assistants and more experienced clinicians will be required to provide clinical supervision or mentoring to peers.

You will use your skills and knowledge to assist students to physically access all activities within the school environment. This includes equipment prescription and accessibility, motor development and functional independence to support students with developmental delays, disabilities, complex health concerns and trauma, to enable participation and engagement and improve educational outcomes. All positions will be provided support appropriate to the HP level, and clinical supervision requirements.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements: Mandatory

  1. Tertiary qualification or equivalent in Physiotherapy.
  2. Current registration as a Physiotherapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  3. Eligibility for membership with the Australian Physiotherapy Association.
  4. Capacity to provide the lifting required for handling and positioning inherent in clinical intervention of clients and trial of equipment, in accordance with relevant Workplace Health and Safety standards.
  5. Prior to commencing in this role, a current registration issued under the working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 will be required.   6. Current drivers licence essential.

Note: This is a temporary position available for a period of 12 months. The start date will be negotiable up until late July 2024. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
