Details: The Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Division is seeking applications for several Assistant Director (project and policy) positions, available immediately. These include positions in the Office for Mental Health and Wellbeing, and in the Mental Health Policy and Strategy Branch.

If you have a passion for improving mental health outcomes in our community and an interest in contributing to high level policy and project development across suicide prevention and strategic investment in, and partnering with, mental health services across our community, then look no further!

We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated team members with backgrounds in health or community service delivery, program development, implementation and evaluation and/or project management.

Assistant Directors in the Division support whole-of-government strategic mental health policy and program development, coordination, liaison, research, reporting and provision of advice on a range of mental health and suicide prevention issues across a range of projects and local and interjurisdictional levels.

These positions will have responsibility for supporting the delivery, planning and evaluation of mental health and suicide prevention activities within the Division. Tertiary qualifications in a health or health related field, clinical or service delivery experience and/or relevant policy and planning experience in the areas of suicide prevention and mental health are highly desirable. However, other relevant experience that supports the achievement of the desired outcomes will also be considered.

Current Opportunities:

  • Two positions in the Suicide Prevention team within the Office for Mental Health and Wellbeing. These roles lead whole-of-community and whole-of-government suicide prevention efforts in the ACT, including policy development, program delivery, project management and stakeholder engagement including with people with lived experience, and contributing to national suicide prevention efforts.
  • One position in the Mental Health Policy and Strategy Branch. This role has key functions contributing towards the commissioning, strategic investment in and relationship management of the mental health non-government organisation sector, as funded by the ACT Government.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, veterans, younger and older workers, and people with diverse genders, sexes and sexualities to apply.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

  • Prior to commencement, successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.

Note: There are several permanent positions available. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months, which may also have a possibility of permanency.

How to Apply: Interested candidates are requested to provide:

  • A written pitch statement of no more than two pages addressing items listed under ‘What You Require’ in the Position Description; and
  • A curriculum vitae and contact details of two referees.

Applications should be submitted via the Apply Now button below.
