Details: The Health and Community Services Directorate (HCSD) is seeking a motivated safety and wellbeing professional to join our team as the Assistant Director, Safety and Wellbeing.

Reporting to the Director, Safety and Wellbeing, the role provides high quality and strategic advice on complex workers compensation and non-compensable injuries. This involves working with rehabilitation case managers, workplace rehabilitation providers, directorate managers, and injured workers to achieve strategic return to work outcomes.

The Assistant Director is also required to support the Safety and Wellbeing team with continuous improvement of HCSD's early intervention and wellbeing frameworks. This includes identification of trends based on collection, analysis and reporting of incident, hazard, and risk data, and providing general advice on work health and safety matters. Eligibility/Other Requirements: Qualifications or experience in early intervention, case management and/or injury management coupled with a comprehensive understanding of the workers compensation framework, in particular the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act of 1988, and/or legislation relevant to work, health, and safety practice are highly desirable.

Note: A merit pool or merit list will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.

Please note, this position works from a workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk. Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start, and finish times.
