Details: Are you an experienced strategic leader with a passion for shaping the future of healthcare?

The Health and Community Services Directorate is seeking a high-performing Senior Director to lead strategic health service planning across the ACT health system. This is a unique opportunity to influence the design, development and delivery of health services that meet the needs of Canberra’s growing and changing community.

The Health System Planning and Performance Division provides system-wide leadership in long-term planning, performance management and accountability. Within this division, the Health Services Planning team works closely with consumers, clinicians, government and non-government organisations to identify health service needs, drive service redesign, develop Territory-wide strategies and support the implementation of major health initiatives.

As Senior Director, you will lead complex health service planning projects and strategic reviews, providing authoritative advice to executives and key stakeholders. You will oversee the development, monitoring and evaluation of Territory-wide health service strategies, support the planning of new and expanded services, and contribute to business cases that inform future investment and service delivery decisions.

You will also play a critical leadership role in guiding a high-performing team, managing competing priorities, overseeing project governance and risk management, and building strong partnerships across the ACT health sector and wider ACT Government. Success in this role will require exceptional communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to influence diverse stakeholders through evidence-based advice.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, veterans, younger and older workers, and people with diverse genders, sexes and sexualities to apply.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

  • Prior to commencement, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.

Notes: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.

How to Apply: Please provide a pitch (no more than two-pages) outlining your skills, experience and why you are suitable for the role, addressing the Selection Criteria listed under ‘What You Require’ within the attached Position Description, and a current curriculum vitae including the contact details of two referees.

Applications should be submitted via the Apply Now button below.

Note: Under the ACTPS employment framework you may be placed in another role where required for the efficient administration of the service.

The ACT public service is committed to closing the gap, underpinned by the belief that when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a genuine say in the design and delivery of policies, programs and services that affect them, better life outcomes are achieved.
