Details: The Office for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs (OATSIA) is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to fill the role of Senior Director. This Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identified position provides leadership across strategic policy, governance, Closing the Gap implementation, whole-of-government coordination and stakeholder engagement to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the ACT.
Reporting to the Executive Branch Manager, the successful applicant will provide high-level advice to executives and Ministers, lead multidisciplinary teams, oversee complex policy and governance work programs, build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and key stakeholders, and represent the ACT Government in local and national forums. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the implementation of the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Agreement 2019–2028 and support the ACT Government's commitments under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.

Eligibility/Other Requirements: This is an Identified position in accordance with Section 27(4) of the Public Sector Management Act 1994 and is only open to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander lived experience and cultural capability is considered essential and therefore confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage may be requested.
Note: This is a temporary position available immediately until 31 May 2027 with the possibility of permanency.
A merit pool or merit list will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
The selection process may include interview, referee checks and other assessment methods as determined by the selection panel.
