Details: Children, Youth and Families (CYF) work in partnership with the community to protect children and young people from being harmed and from harming others. The CYF also works in partnership with families, carers and community agencies to ensure children and young people are safe and achieve the best possible life outcomes. The CYF is part of a one HCSD human services organisation.
This is a significant executive opportunity to shape the future of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service delivery across the ACT. As Executive Branch Manager, you will lead at the centre of government, working in close partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to drive meaningful, lasting change.
Reporting to the Executive Group Manager, Child, Youth and Family, you will oversee a high-impact portfolio focused on culturally informed service design, strengthening community-controlled organisations, and translating government commitments into tangible outcomes. You will lead a dedicated branch and work across ACT Government Directorates, providing trusted advice and shaping policy, commissioning and engagement approaches that support the growth and sustainability of the ACCO sector.
You will engage directly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders and organisations, representing the ACT Government in key forums and partnerships. Your work will help progress critical commitments including Closing the Gap, the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Agreement, national frameworks, and the transition to community control of important cultural sites.
This role calls for a highly capable executive with strong strategic, policy, and operational leadership experience. You will bring cultural acumen, sound judgement, and the ability to communicate and negotiate effectively in complex and sensitive environments.

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field are highly desirable.
This role is an existing Executive position with established core responsibilities, which may change to incorporate functions and business areas in line with the organisational restructure and consultation outcomes. The Executive Capabilities may be refined or amended following completion of this process.

All ACTPS Senior Executive Service members are required to exercise the functions of their position in accordance with the closing the gap principle ACT Closing the Gap Implementation Plan - ACT Government Transparency Portal
Remuneration: The position attracts a remuneration package ranging from $296,877 - $306,035 depending on current superannuation arrangements of the successful applicant. This includes a cash component of $261,668.

Contract: The successful applicant will be engaged under a performance-based long-term contract for a period of up to five years. Prospective applicants should be aware that long-term engagements are tabled in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
