We're looking for motivated professionals to join our ACT Strategy & Inspector team, within the Defence, Investigations, ACT and Legal Branch.

Assistant Director, ACT Strategy & Policy (EL1)
This role requires a highly motivated person with experience in strategy and policy development, high level stakeholder engagement and management skills, research skills, and strong oral and written communication skills.

The successful candidate for Assistant Director, ACT Strategy & Policy will have experience in complex stakeholder management; reporting; providing policy advice; researching interpreting and analysing legislation, and a demonstrated ability to:

  • lead and manage a small team to achieve quality outcomes
  • cultivate productive relationships and nurture internal and external stakeholders to influence outcomes
  • communicate with influence, including to produce high quality reports suitable for publication, as well as submissions, briefs and education materials
  • monitor and analyse complaint trends and other materials to identify systemic issues to assist the ACT Ombudsman to target its activities and carry out its functions
  • work effectively under pressure, independently or as part of a team, to achieve results.

Senior Strategic Policy Officer (APS6)
This role requires a strong all-rounder with the ability to move between strategic policy, research, report drafting and stakeholder engagement.

The successful candidate for Senior Strategic Policy Officer will have experience in providing policy advice, research, interpreting and analysing legislation, and a demonstrated ability to:

  • support and promote their team to achieve organisational goals
  • communicate with influence, including to produce complex and high-quality written briefs, correspondence, and reports suitable for publication and written guidance materials
  • well-developed communication skills to develop and support productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to influence outcomes, anticipate stakeholder expectations, and achieve work area and organisational goals
  • strong analytical skills and experience assessing complex information and providing accurate policy advice
  • think strategically to identify factors, trends and influences and implement well-considered solutions, and
  • work effectively under pressure, independently or as part of a team, to achieve results.

Strategic Policy Officer (APS 5) 
This role requires a strong all-rounder with the ability to move between strategic policy, research, report drafting, and stakeholder engagement.

The successful candidate for Strategic Policy Officer will have experience in providing policy advice, interpreting and analysing legislation, and a demonstrated ability to:

  • support their team to achieve organisational goals
  • communicate with influence, including to produce complex and high-quality written briefs, correspondence, and reports suitable for publication and written guidance materials
  • well-developed communication skills to develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support effective liaison and respond to stakeholder expectations
  • strong analytical skills and experience assessing complex information
  • think strategically to identify areas for focus and implement well-considered solutions, and
  • work effectively under pressure, independently or as part of a team, to achieve results.
