Details: The Territory Records Act 2002 establishes the Territory Records Advisory Council, whose role is to advise the Director of Territory Records about:

  • The development and review of standards and codes for agency records management;
  • The disposal of agency records;
  • The preservation of agency records about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage; and
  • Issues relating to access to records that are open to public access under the Act.

Job description

The Territory Records Office is seeking expressions of interest from members of the community interested in being recommended for appointment to the Territory Records Advisory Council. There are currently four anticipated vacancies on the Council. Appointments to the Council are made by the Minister for the Public Service.

Members of the Council are appointed to represent the interests of particular groups. The anticipated vacancies are for individuals who can represent:

  • Organisations interested in public administration, governance or public accountability.
  • Entities interested in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage.
  • Community associations interested in historical or heritage issues.
  • Professional organisations interested in records management and archives.

How to apply: To apply for appointment, please complete the Expression of Interest coversheet and attach:

  • In no more than two pages, a statement of your relevant skills and experience, demonstrating your capacity to represent the interests of a particular group.
  • A copy of your resume detailing your educational qualifications, relevant work experience and at least two referees who can make comment on your professional skills and abilities.

Coversheet and Expression of Interest should be forwarded to the Director of Territory Records at TRO@act.gov.au.
