Details: The Office of the Deputy Director-General is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Executive Officer to join our team in a temporary 12-month role. Depending on interest and to provide broader opportunities, we may consider splitting the backfill between two candidates for six months each.
Reporting to the Senior Director, you will provide high-level executive and administrative support to the Deputy Director-General. Working closely with the Director-General’s office, the team ensures seamless executive coordination across the Deputy Director-General and Director-General Offices, as well as the boarder Directorate.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Managing the workflow of the Deputy Director-General’s office, ensuring briefs, strategic papers and all other documentation are coordinated in a timely and efficient manner
- Providing high-level executive support across governance, finance and human resources functions
- Tracking and coordination correspondence, including conducting research and critical analysis to support informed decision-making
- Fostering collaborative relationships across the Directorate, including executive support teams and external stakeholders
- Driving process improvements and managing sensitive information with discretion
- Performing other duties relevant to the role, as detailed in the position description
This is a key position within Infrastructure Canberra, with a strong focus on executive coordination and strategic support. The Executive Officer is expected to demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with a high level of professionalism, discretion and sound judgement. Success in this role requires advanced organisational capability, strong attention to detail, strong quality assurance capabilities, and the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure. A positive approach to teamwork is also essential.

Desirable:
- Relevant experience and/or qualifications in executive support/office management.
- Experience with Microsoft Office is highly desirable.
Notes: This is a temporary position available from 06 January 2026 for a period of up to 12 months. Depending on the successful applicant, an earlier start date may be requested to allow for a longer handover period commencing in December 2025.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
This position requires a minimum in-office presence of three days per week.
