Details: Are you ready to make an impact on the ACT Government’s infrastructure future? Infrastructure Canberra is seeking a highly motivated and experienced finance professional to join our Strategic Finance team as a Senior Finance Officer, Reporting and Capital Works.

About the role

This role will provide high-quality technical accounting support, analysis and reporting, in compliance with accounting standards and ACT Government accounting policies and frameworks. You will play a key role in coordinating the financial aspects of capital works reporting and asset management for the Infrastructure Canberra portfolio and delivering high-quality financial reports and analysis to senior stakeholders.

You will also contribute to the development of financial processes and policies, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, legislation, and ACT Government frameworks. The role involves direct supervision of staff and requires strong leadership, collaboration, and mentoring skills.

What we’re looking for

We are seeking candidates with:

  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of accrual based financial statements, budgets and financial management reports.
  • Demonstrated experience in asset and AASB16 finance leases management.
  • Demonstrated experience in capital works reporting.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting standards, public sector legislation, and financial management practices.
  • Experience with financial reconciliations and reporting tools (including TM1).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, supported by excellent critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Sound organisational skills, including the ability to effectively manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, or audit are highly desirable, as is membership or progress toward CPA or CA accreditation.

Notes: This is a temporary position available for up to six months. This position is available to ACT Government officers and employees only.
