Details: ACT Corrective Services is looking for a suitably qualified person with demonstrated clinical experience, personal integrity, self-confidence and exceptional communication skills, to fill the Complex Care Clinician (Health Professional 1/2) position, within the Supports and Interventions Unit (SIU).
Through sound knowledge of trauma informed practice and the principles of therapeutic intervention, the occupant of this role will support detainees through the delivery of programs and services within discrete communities with complex needs within the AMC, including the Assisted Care Unit (ACU), Women’s Area, and individual interventions to clients across the centre experiencing mild-to-moderate mental health concerns.
An interest in rehabilitation, community connections, reintegration and the ability to operate effectively in a team, as well as having the capacity to deal with people from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds in a correctional environment, is essential.
Clinicians working within SIU are supported via access to supervision, a collaborative and multidisciplinary team environment, and continuing professional development opportunities appropriate to area of service provision.
To be successful in the role you will demonstrate a sound knowledge of trauma informed practice and how this can be applied to forensic populations as well as sound interpersonal, liaison, negotiation and written and oral communication skills, including the ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders including detainees and staff.

Eligibility/Other requirements:
- Relevant qualification/s in Social Work/ Occupational Therapy/ Psychology/ Counselling are essential.
- Eligibility for professional membership or demonstrated eligibility for professional membership of a relevant governing professional body is required.
- Applicants applying for the HP2 role must have a minimum of 12 months paid work employment, post qualification, in a relevant role.
- Applicants applying for the HP1 role may be recent graduates with less than 12 months paid employment, post qualification in relevant role.
- Experience in individual Social Work/ Occupational Therapy/ Psychology/ Counselling roles with a wide range of clients with identified needs is desirable.
- Experience within a forensic/ custodial setting is desirable.
- This position requires a National Police Check.
- A current driver’s licence (Class ‘C’ is essential).
- This position requires a pre-employment medical.

- To be eligible for permanent or temporary employment within the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) you must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or hold a valid work visa.
- If an officer no longer holds a visa that permits them to work in Australia, their employment with the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) will be terminated.

An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.
