Details: The Human Rights Branch advises on policy and law reform and administers initiatives related to human rights, social policy, anti-discrimination, victims of crime, disability justice, law reform, Redress and Restorative Justice.

The Senior Policy Officer (SOG C) will be responsible for undertaking complex strategic or legal policy work, procurement activities, and program administration to support priorities across the Victims and Inclusion Policy team.

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • experience undertaking complex research and analysis in development of strategic or legal policy;
  • knowledge and experience with processes such as government procurement, and preparation of briefings, correspondence and submissions.
  • strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to develop and promote positive relationships with stakeholders; and
  • sound judgement and able to respond to quickly moving priorities and tight timeframes in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:  

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or experience in similar justice policy or program roles is highly desirable but not essential.
