Details: The ACT Emergency Services Agency (ACTESA) is seeking a skilled Senior Digital Communications Officer to join the Public Information & Engagement team in a short-term backfill role. This is your chance to put your digital skills to work in a role that directly supports the safety and resilience of the Canberra community.

What You’ll Do

You’ll create and publish engaging content across ESA’s digital channels – including social media, internal newsletters, and the intranet – helping inform the public and spotlight the work of ESA’s frontline services including the ACT Ambulance Service, ACT Fire & Rescue, ACT Rural Fire Service and the ACT State Emergency Service.

What We’re Looking For

We want someone with:

  • Proven experience creating digital content and managing online platforms
  • Strong writing, graphic design, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A solid grasp of accessibility and audience-first content principles
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team

We’re after someone with strong experience in digital communications, particularly social media, graphic design, and copywriting. You'll be confident engaging with stakeholders, managing competing deadlines, and creating content that’s both strategic and community focused.

Technical skills in photography, graphic design, and videography are highly desirable.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in the field of digital communications and/or a related discipline area is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in a high pressure, fast-paced and sensitive environment such as emergency services is highly desirable.
  • The successful applicant will need to be available for occasional weekend and after-hours work.
  • Driver’s licence “Class C” is essential.
  • Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. This position is available to ACT Government officers and employees only.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
