The Suburban Land Agency (SLA) is seeking an experienced Senior Development Manager to manage the strategic planning and delivery of major development programs that deliver lasting impact for Canberrans.
As part of the Place Delivery Group, you will manage a team and oversee the design and delivery of master-planned communities, starting with the transformative Molonglo Town Centre Program. This role is pivotal in guiding multidisciplinary stakeholders, influencing high-level decision-making, and ensuring projects align with government priorities and community needs. - Navigating regulatory frameworks, or leading risk-based decision-making, even if not within a government context.
- Proactive engagement and collaboration with government agencies, industry partners, and community stakeholders to support project success and confidently represent SLA in public and industry forums.
- Supporting land release strategies and lead commercial negotiations to ensure alignment with SLA’s long-term goals and value creation.
This role is ideal for emerging leaders with development experience who are ready to step into strategic oversight and guide multidisciplinary teams.

The successful applicant will need to have or able to obtain:
- General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
- Asbestos Awareness Card.
- Crystalline Silica Exposure Prevention Card.

Highly Desirable
- Experience of ACT Government procurement, planning, design, development and construction processes.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering residential / commercial development projects.
- A sound understanding / working knowledge of land release, including design, documentation and implementation.
Pre-requisite qualifications and/or experience
The successful applicant will be required to:
- Hold a relevant professional qualification or accreditation with a professional body (Engineering, Architecture, Project Management) recognised within Australia, or have significant planning and/or infrastructure knowledge through project management experience.
Notes: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. This means that if you are assessed as suitable, you may be considered for similar roles in the future, without needing to reapply.
This position will be located in a workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
