The information provided by an individual and their referees will only be used by authorised personnel. The most important factors in the personnel vetting process are honesty, openness, and thoroughness in completing the responses. Answering ‘yes’ to any of the questions does not automatically preclude an individual from obtaining a security personnel vetting certificate.

The personnel vetting process can be complex. The time it takes to assess each case will vary depending on individual circumstances. Once all required documentation is provided, the benchmark timeframe for provision of a CMTEDD Personnel Vetting Program Certificate is within 10 working days. It will take longer to process Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) issued security clearances.
