If the position you commence with Chief Minister’s, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate (CMTEDD) requires you to hold a Personnel Vetting Program Certificate (clearance) you will be sent separately, the relevant documentation to complete.
As a guide, information to be provided during the CMTEDD Personnel Vetting Program (PVP) process includes:
- Nomination of referees – employment and personal (referees may or may not be contacted)
- Personal information – includes a 100 point identity check
- Disclosure Questionnaire – seeks personal information to determine an individual’s character, for example:
- Do you hold an existing security clearance?
- Have you been formally charged or convicted of any offence in the last 10 years?
- Have you been dismissed from employment or left employment because of a discipline or misconduct issue?
- Consent form – seeks consent for the ACT Government to contact referees and verify information
- Agreement form – seeks agreement of the individual to not disclose, publish, or in any way communicate, official information gained through the course of their employment which protects against the misuse of government resources and the misuse of information whilst undertaking duties within CMTEDD.
The information provided by an individual and their referees will only be used by authorised personnel. The most important factors in the personnel vetting process are honesty, openness, and thoroughness in completing the responses. Answering ‘yes’ to any of the questions does not automatically preclude an individual from obtaining a security personnel vetting certificate.
The personnel vetting process can be complex. The time it takes to assess each case will vary depending on individual circumstances. Once all required documentation is provided, the benchmark timeframe for provision of a CMTEDD Personnel Vetting Program Certificate is within 10 working days. It will take longer to process Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) issued security clearances.
